The Best Midi Keyboards Of 2023
A MIDI keyboard is a great way to start learning piano, there are many different options depending on which keys you prefer. Most of your lessons focus on the middle of the keyboard, so you don’t have to branch out just yet. If you’re a beginner, you might want to buy a 61-key MIDI keyboard if you don’t want to invest in an oversized keyboard just yet.
When you use a MIDI keyboard with our piano learning software, you’ll find that learning is easier than you think. All you have to do is connect your MIDI or USB cable from your keyboard to your computer and you can start learning Piano Marvel mode. We recommend using MIDI Piano with our app, as it allows you to use everything we have to offer.
Although you can use the acoustic piano using “Book Mode” with our app, it does not fully ensure note accuracy, which is what you really need when learning. We are developing the ability for Piano Marvel to “hear” notes being played by any device that uses a microphone. It allows people to use acoustic pianos with Piano Marvel. We hope to release the mic rating next year. Please note that after the release of this feature, if you learn on an older acoustic piano, it may be out of tune, which may affect how our app takes notes. With a MIDI keyboard or MIDI-compatible piano, our software performs to the best of its ability, driving it with maximum precision. Here, though, we’re going to keep things really simple, showing you how to play your first chord – the C major triad – on your piano, digital piano or MIDI keyboard.
Step 1: A chord consists of several notes played at the same time and three notes played together are called triad chords. To play the C major triad, start by placing your right hand on the keyboard as shown above.
Step 2: A C major chord consists of the notes C, E and G, so it corresponds to the 1st, 3rd and 5th fingers in this position. The trick when playing a triad chord is to lower all three notes at the same time, with equal weight, so start by playing the C and E notes with the 1st and 3rd fingers like a two-note chord.
Step 3: Play this combination a few times to get a feel for it. Make sure the 2nd finger doesn’t accidentally press the D key, always resting on the key, but not sticking out like a snail’s antenna as in the picture. Instead, focus on keeping the pressure between toes 1 and 3 nice and even, keeping toe 2 out of the way and relaxing.

Step 4: Once you’ve learned this, switch to playing the C and G notes with just fingers 1 and 5. It is called power chord or fifth power because we subtract the third from the chord. The little finger is usually the weakest to begin with, so try to play both notes with equal force.
Step 5: A problem many beginners have when playing chords is keeping their unused fingers away from unnecessary keys; In this case, they are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers. To do this, however, the temptation is to stick to them. At a crazy angle, so try to be as calm as possible. Play the power chord a few times until you feel comfortable.
Step 6: Time to combine these two techniques together to build our C major triangle. We need to play the power chord again, but now with the 3rd finger in between. Keeping your hand right on the five keys from C to G, press the 1st, 3rd and 5th fingers with equal weight to play the notes C, E and G, leaving the 2nd and 4th aside but slowly.
Step 7: Hold the chord for a second, then lift and repeat, leaving three notes clean and even without involving the 2nd and 4th fingers in the action. Once you’re confident with the chord structure, set up a simple metronome or beat in your DAW and practice hitting the chord cleanly beat-by-beat for each bar – 1 beat.

Step 8: Time to add the left arm. At this point the C major triad played by the left hand is an inverted version of the right hand, so fingers 5, 3 and 1 are used to play the notes C, E and G. . Follow the same process as the previous steps, but using your left hand, until you can confidently create chords with both hands.
Step 9: Finally, let’s join the two hands together. Put on a metronome or beat again and practice playing the chord with both hands in a downward tempo until you can reliably hit all the notes simultaneously with both hands. Start slowly and gradually build up to faster speeds as your confidence increases.
