Whats The Fastest Production Car – Last year, the Shelby Supercar (SSC) Tuatara, a 1750-hp twin-turbo V-8 powered supercar, set the world’s fastest car record with a top speed of 316.11 mph. After controversy over fake videos, and other attempts to reach that speed, SSC finally publicly admits that it never reached that speed when it first launched.
“We would like to officially confirm that in October 2020 we did not reach the previously stated speed of 331 kilometers or 301 mph,” the company said in an Instagram post. “We are truly heartbroken as a company to learn that we have not reached this milestone, and we will continue to strive to break the 300 mph barrier transparently, authoritatively and without doubt.”
Whats The Fastest Production Car
Shortly after the internet claimed the video was fake, the SSC made a second one at the Johnny Boehmer Proving Grounds at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. There, Tuatara averaged 282.9 mph over two games, but never reached 300 mph. The company wanted to do another test in April, but the car was damaged when the driver fell.
Musk: 2021 Tesla Roadster Will Be World’s Fastest Production Car
The Tuatara is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.9-liter turbocharged V-8 that produces 1,750 horsepower and 1,341 pound-feet of torque with E85 and revs at 8,800 rpm. It uses a seven-speed hydraulically controlled, manual transmission.
SSC says it is not running behind the speed limit and wants to do it openly this time. We should hear about the next attempt at the title soon.

In November 2017, Christian von Koenigsegg visited Nevada to watch Koenigsegg test driver Niklas Lilja challenge the 267.8 km/h world speed record set by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport in 2010. After racing the Agera RS for miles 12 laps of Route 160 near Pahrump, Lilja reached an average speed of 277.9 mph, beating the Bugatti’s speed and setting a new record. But after setting a new standard on October 10, the fastest-car record is now held by the SSC Tuatara 2020 hypercar.
The SSC Tuatara hypercar, a product of the Richland, Washington-based company, set a new Guinness World Record speed of 316.11 mph, making it the fastest car in the world.
SSC North America’s Tuatara, a $1.6 million hypercar that produces 1,750 horsepower, reached an average speed of 316.11 mph with professional race car driver Oliver Webb at the wheel. The last time SSC won the Guinness title for fastest car was 2007 when the Ultimate Aero set a top speed of 256-mph.
The site posted two back-to-back speeds of 301.07 mph and 331.15 mph. Of his performance, Webb said, “There was definitely a lot to it. And with better conditions, I know we could have gone faster.” Webb said that crossing borders prevented Tutara from knowing its limits.
Here Are The Fastest Road Legal Production Cars Of All Time
Some of the requirements for international registration include driving a variety of vehicles on the same track, having a production car that the average consumer can afford, running on street tires, and setting a record speed on highways. Beating the average speed of the Koenigsegg Agera RS, the SSC Tuatara claimed three other speed records: “fastest mile on highway,” 313.12 mph (503.92 km/h); “Fastest Mileage on Highways,” 321.35 mph (517.16 km/h); and “high speed achieved on highway,” 331.15 mph.
The mid-engine SSC Tuatara features a 5.9-liter, twin-turbo V-8 that produces 1,750 hp and 1,280 lb-ft of torque, mated to a seven-speed manual transmission. Guinness World Records has yet to verify the SSC Tuatara’s 316-mph double-track speed. If approved, the Tuatara will officially become the fastest car in the world. What it is: Either a bunch of provocative ballyhoo or galactic juice fueled by manufacturers of gas-fed hypercars. Anyway, it’s cool, with big wheels on the corners and tough skin like Mickey Rourke.
Why it matters: Elon Musk, as he likes to do, is asking for a great car. As he expressed unwavering confidence about the Roadster’s three-ring road trip last November: “The new Tesla Roadster will be the fastest car ever. time. ” That means beating the Koenigsegg Agera RS’s top speed of 277.9 mph, but we wonder if Tesla’s boss is confusing his own merits here by saying “faster.” Musk says the Roadster will go from zero to 60 in 1.9 seconds, hit 100 mph in 4.2, and complete the 8.9-mile quarter with a top speed of “over 250 mph” out of the box. And that’s the basic model, which shows that it’s the beginning of the street performance.
Link: You may have noticed that the Roadster is not a Roadster but a Targa, which retains its glass roof. Beyond that, we know of only four positions. Musk calls it two-plus-two, so don’t count on moving four adults, which is of little use here.
Fastest Cars Of The ’70s
Powertrain: Three engines—two driving the rear wheels and one driving the front wheels—will power the thing. Given the performance requirements, a faster gearbox seems possible. The 200-kilowatt battery pack—double the capacity of the largest battery pack available in Tesla—provides all that speed, acceleration, and juice for a claimed 620 miles.
Competition: McLaren BP23, Mercedes-AMG Project One, Porsche Mission E, Thor, Zeus, Medusa and other hyperbolic madness happening in 2020.
What could go wrong: Owners were expecting the car to live up to Musk’s expectations, which was a problem for Tesla. Or they can hope to do things that other hypercars can, like lap tracks and constant performance — a challenge for at least one Tesla. And using a 200-kWh battery pack adds weight. Tesla needs to improve its technology to become a road, tow and sleeper. But it only requires two out of three.
Estimated arrival and price: Tesla says it will go on sale in 2020 and start at $200,000. But such things have been said before. These words eat us.
