This role may be a good fit if you enjoy listening, coordinating and collecting data, as well as working closely with people to find and access essential health services.
Where The Jobs Are
Every population tells a different story about health. It’s often up to public health researchers to define what that is by analyzing lab results and other data. Public health researchers typically present their findings in reports that can inform policy and programs. They can work in government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other institutions in various fields, such as substance abuse, vaccination, and epidemiology.
This role may be a good fit if you enjoy finding answers to bigger questions, working with data, conducting interviews and communicating your findings.
The environment plays an important role in the health and well-being of people. Environmental health officers, often called sanitarians or occupational health and safety specialists, inspect the environmental health and safety of a site or area. You Don’t Need A College Degree To Land A Great Job
Population statistics such as birth dates and sex ratios can reveal valuable information and inform stronger health outcomes. Demographers look beyond the what and dig deeper into the why, producing reports to inform larger initiatives. They are used by government organizations such as the BLS, the US Census Bureau, and other agencies dedicated to collecting information about the population. You can find junior-level demographer roles with a bachelor’s degree, although associate and senior roles usually require a master’s degree.
This role may be a good fit if you love maths and science and have strong computer skills. You enjoy conducting research such as statistical analysis and communicating your findings.
Almost every healthcare facility needs people working behind the scenes to ensure that operations—everything from staff to protocols—run smoothly.
