Cyber Security, Postgraduate Certificate
The Conestoga School of Computer Science and Information Technology is hosting a series of webinars in partnership with (ISC)
Toronto Chapter at the Waterloo campus on November 24th. The conference welcomes students and staff to hear from current thought leaders on the web.
Allison Atkins gave the keynote address at the webinar on November 24 at the Waterloo College campus.
Also known as the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, (ISC) 2 is the world’s largest professional network. A non-profit organization dedicated to education to promote a safe and secure online world.

Allison Atkins, Microsoft’s national leader for Cloud Endpoint Modernization, provided an overview of the Zero Trust model to prevent and respond to cyber threats quickly and effectively.
“You might think that Zero Trust is a new buzzword, a security buzzword or a state of mind that companies are trying to achieve but can’t achieve, but I don’t believe that,” Atkins said. “I think there’s an opportunity today to bring Zero Trust to life, and I believe that’s what we need to embrace to face the threat landscape.”
Zero Trust is a security product suitable for today’s complex environment to protect people, devices, processes and data. Instead of assuming that everything behind the company’s firewall is safe, the model takes exception and authenticates every request as if it came from an open network, ensuring that every access request has full authentication, authorization and closure.
Atkins continued, “This explosion has changed the way we work with remote work and collaboration, and with the rise of cybercrime, it’s really become a challenge to maintain a secure environment. ,” Atkins continued. “We are trying to solve the chain of cooperation where we have things in the cloud and we are trying to work from anywhere. I think that Zero Trust is the way that is needed today to maintain that productivity and increase migration and reduce the risk.”

Conestoga College is a great campus! The campus is very beautiful, the campus itself is very spacious and has a good atmosphere. The center offers free transportation from campus to campus, so there is a wide variety of courses offered. The food is good and mostly satisfying. The rooms are nice and the campus is very close to the city, so there is a good mix of college life and city life. The staff is very helpful and the professors are very approachable to the students. Class sizes are small, which means more of a one-on-one learning experience. Inside
