FreeCAD comes with many ‘functions’. These are basically the pre-selected tools that you will use. For example, you can create a design by selecting the ‘Draft’ workbench. However, we will start using the ‘Part’ function – because we are here to create a real physical object!

If you draw straight lines, FreeCAD will consider them and ‘scale’ them for your convenience – meaning that the line will be perfectly parallel to the horizontal or vertical axes. You can also add or delete these statistics manually.

Also, you need to predefine the end of each lne by selecting t and choosing the tool ‘Make dmenson’. Once all the dmensons are set, FreeCAD will tell you that your sketch is ‘fully scaled’. Something complicated? The video below will show you how easy it is!
Your 2D sketch is ready – it’s time to turn it into a 3D model! First, click the ‘Delete sketch edtng’ button, then go to ‘Tasks’ and select ‘Path’. You create a 3D model based on a sketch. Then click one face (surface) of the 3D model and continue with the next sketch. Then you turn this sketch into a new 3D design, and so on. With this method, you can add new parts (from ‘sketch’ to ‘pad’) or remove them (from ‘sketch’ to ‘bag’) and create more complex designs.
